Adapted posthumously from the circa 1933 watercolor and ink painting created for the cover of the June 1933 issue of Judge magazine

In this piece, we land in the middle of a magical decade between Seuss’ first professionally published cartoon (1927) and the publication of his first children’s book (1937). Here, in his stunning 1933 Judge Magazine cover, we witness an artist hitting his stride on the way to becoming America’s most successful children’s book author and illustrator.

The limited edition After Dark in the Park, captures Seuss’ unique use of bright colors and offers a sneak peak at many of the animals and characters that would evolve into Seuss’ much-loved repertoire of bestiary. We even witness the stacking of turtles!
